Due particelle si muovono sulla stessa retta, con moto dato dalle seguenti equazioni

\[ \begin{gather} S_1=-10t+5t^2 \\[10pt] S_2=30+5t-10t^2 \end{gather} \]

le posizioni sono misurate in centimetri a partire da un'origine comune, e il tempo t è misurato in secondi. Determinare:
a) L'istante in cui i due corpi si incontrano;
b) Le velocità e le accelerazioni di entrambi in tale istante;
c) La posizione del punto di incontro;
d) Quando e dove sono uguali le velocità delle due particelle;
e) Gli istanti in cui i corpi cambiano verso.

Soluzione:

Le equazioni date nel problema mostrano che le particelle sono in Moto Rettilineo Uniformemente Accelerato, dato da

\[ \begin{gather} \bbox[background:#99CCFF; padding:10px; border-radius:10px;] {S=S_0+v_0 t+\frac{a}{2}t^2} \end{gather} \]

Facendo le seguenti associazioni

\[ \begin{array}{c} S_1 & = & 0 & - & 10 & t & + & 5 & t^2\\ \downarrow & & \downarrow & & \downarrow & & & \downarrow \\ S & = & S_0 & + & v_0 & t & + & \dfrac{a}{2} & t^2 \end{array} \]

la posizione iniziale della particella 1 è S01 = 0, la velocità iniziale v01 = −10 cm/s e l'accelerazione   \( \frac{a_1}{2}=5\Rightarrow a_1=2\times 5\Rightarrow a_1=10\;\mathrm{cm/s^2} \)

\[ \begin{gather} S_2 & = & 30 & + & 5 & t & - & 10 & t^2 \\ \downarrow & & \downarrow & & \downarrow & & & \downarrow & \\ \;S & = & S_0 & + & v_0 & t & + & \dfrac{a}{2} & t^2 \end{gather} \]

la posizione iniziale della particella 2 è S02 = 30 cm, la velocità iniziale v02 = 5 cm/s e l'accelerazione   \( \frac{a_2}{2}=-10\Rightarrow a_2=-2\times 10\Rightarrow a_2=-20\;\mathrm{cm/s^2} \)

a) Nell'istante in cui le particelle si incontrano esse si trovano nella stessa posizione, applicando la condizione di uguaglianza alle equazioni date per le particelle

\[ \begin{gather} S_1=S_2 \\[5pt] -10t+5t^2=30+5t-10t^2 \\[5pt] -10t+5t^2-30-5t+10t^2=0 \\[5pt] 15t^2-15t-30=0 \end{gather} \]

dividendo l'equazione per 15

\[ \begin{gather} \qquad\qquad 15t^2-15t-30=0 \qquad (\div15) \\[5pt] t^2-t-2=0 \end{gather} \]

Questa è un'Equazione di Secondo Grado in cui l'incognita è il valore desiderato del tempo.

Soluzione dell'Equazione di Secondo Grado \( t^2-t-2=0 \)
\[ \begin{gather} \Delta=b^2-4ac=(-1)^2-4\times 1\times(-2)=1+8=9 \\[5pt] t=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{\Delta\;}}{2a}=\frac{-(-1)\pm\sqrt{9\;}}{2\times 1}=\frac{1\pm 3}{2} \end{gather} \]
le due radici dell'equazione sono
\[ \begin{gather} t_1=2\;\mathrm s\\ e\\ t_2=-1\;\mathrm s \end{gather} \]

Poiché non esiste un tempo negativo, trascuriamo la seconda radice, l'istante di incontro sarà

\[ \begin{gather} \bbox[background:#FFCCCC; padding:10px; border-radius:10px;] {t=2\;\mathrm s} \end{gather} \]

b) Nel Moto Rettilineo Uniformemente Accelerato l'equazione della velocità è data da

\[ \begin{gather} \bbox[background:#99CCFF; padding:10px; border-radius:10px;] {v=v_0+at} \end{gather} \]
  • Particella 1:
\[ \begin{gather} v_1=v_{01}+a_1t \\[5pt] v_1=-10+10t \tag{I} \end{gather} \]

sostituendo l'istante di tempo trovato al punto (a)

\[ \begin{gather} v_1=-10+10\times 2 \end{gather} \]
\[ \begin{gather} \bbox[background:#FFCCCC; padding:10px; border-radius:10px;] {v_1=10\;\mathrm{cm/s}} \end{gather} \]

L'accelerazione è costante e uguale a

\[ \begin{gather} \bbox[background:#FFCCCC; padding:10px; border-radius:10px;] {a_1=10\;\mathrm{cm/s^2}} \end{gather} \]
  • Particella 2:
\[ \begin{gather} v_2=v_{02}+a_2t \\[5pt] v_2=5-20t \tag{II} \end{gather} \]

sostituendo l'istante di tempo trovato al punto (a)

\[ \begin{gather} v_2=5-20\times 2 \end{gather} \]
\[ \begin{gather} \bbox[background:#FFCCCC; padding:10px; border-radius:10px;] {v_2=-35\;\mathrm{cm/s}} \end{gather} \]

L'accelerazione è costante e uguale a

\[ \begin{gather} \bbox[background:#FFCCCC; padding:10px; border-radius:10px;] {a_2=-20\;\mathrm{cm/s^2}} \end{gather} \]

c) Sostituendo l'istante di incontro nell'equazione della particella 1

\[ \begin{gather} S_1=-10.2+5\times 2^2 \\[5pt] S_1=-20+5\times 4 \end{gather} \]
\[ \begin{gather} \bbox[background:#FFCCCC; padding:10px; border-radius:10px;] {S_1=0} \end{gather} \]

le particelle si incontrano nell'origine del sistema.

Osservazione: Se avessimo sostituito nell'equazione della particella 2 il risultato sarebbe stato lo stesso
\[ \begin{gather} S_2=30+5\times 2-10\times 2^2 \\[5pt] S_2=30+10-10\times 4 \\[5pt] S_2=0 \end{gather} \]

d) Uguagliando le equazioni (I) e (II), abbiamo l'istante in cui le velocità delle particelle sono uguali

\[ \begin{gather} v_1=v_2 \\[5pt] -10+10t=5-20t \\[5pt] 10t+20t=5+10 \\[5pt] 30t=15 \\[5pt] t=\frac{15}{30} \end{gather} \]
\[ \begin{gather} \bbox[background:#FFCCCC; padding:10px; border-radius:10px;] {t=0,5\;\mathrm s} \end{gather} \]

Sostituendo questo istante di tempo nelle equazioni date nel problema

\[ \begin{gather} S_1=-10\times 0,5+5\times 0,5^2 \\[5pt] S_1=-5+5\times 0,25 \\[5pt] S_1=-5+1,25 \end{gather} \]
\[ \begin{gather} \bbox[background:#FFCCCC; padding:10px; border-radius:10px;] {S_1=-3,75\;\mathrm{cm}} \end{gather} \]
\[ \begin{gather} S_2=30+5\times 0,5-10\times 0,5^2 \\[5pt] S_2=30+2,5-10\times 0,25 \\[5pt] S_2=30+2,5-2,5 \end{gather} \]
\[ \begin{gather} \bbox[background:#FFCCCC; padding:10px; border-radius:10px;] {S_2=30\;\mathrm{cm}} \end{gather} \]

e) Nell'istante in cui le particelle cambiano verso le loro velocità sono uguali a zero (v1 = 0 e v2 = 0), sostituendo queste condizioni nelle equazioni (I) e (II

\[ \begin{gather} 0=-10+10t \\[5pt] t=\frac{10}{10} \end{gather} \]
\[ \begin{gather} \bbox[background:#FFCCCC; padding:10px; border-radius:10px;] {t=1\;\mathrm s} \end{gather} \]
\[ \begin{gather} 0=5-20t \\[5pt] t=\frac{5}{20} \end{gather} \]
\[ \begin{gather} \bbox[background:#FFCCCC; padding:10px; border-radius:10px;] {t=0,25\;\mathrm s} \end{gather} \]
